VPN – remote access

A corporate VPN (Virtual Private Network) creates an encrypted tunnel between an employee and the company network, so from home or on the road they reach company systems exactly as they would from the office – and nobody can read the data on the way. We design, deploy and manage VPNs for small and medium companies. Installation and configuration starts at CZK 5,000 (about €208) and a VPN concentrator at CZK 8,900 (about €371); prices exclude VAT.

Compared with simply exposing a service to the internet, a VPN has two decisive advantages: company applications, terminal services and shared drives are not visible from outside at all, and access can be revoked for a single person at any time without touching the rest of the network. That is why a VPN is usually the first thing we address with new clients, together with network security.

Why your company needs a VPN

  • Secure work from home – Employees working remotely get secure access to the company network as if they were in the office.
  • Linking branch offices – Connect several office locations into one virtual network with access to shared resources.
  • Protection of sensitive data – All communication is encrypted, so data is protected from eavesdropping even on public Wi-Fi.
  • Remote access to applications – Terminal services, ERP systems, shared drives and printers available from anywhere.
  • Meeting security standards – A VPN helps meet GDPR and other data protection requirements.

Types of VPN solution

  • Site-to-site VPN – A permanent link between two or more offices using VPN concentrators.
  • Remote access VPN – Connections for individual employees from home or while travelling.
  • SSL VPN – Access through a web browser with no client to install.

Technology and security

  • AES-256 encryption – The highest level of protection for transmitted data
  • Two-factor authentication – An additional layer of security at sign-in
  • Certificates and pre-shared keys – Flexible options for verifying identity
  • IPsec, OpenVPN and WireGuard support – Modern VPN protocols

What we take care of

  • Designing a VPN solution to fit your company’s needs
  • Supply and configuration of VPN hardware
  • Setting up VPN clients for employees
  • Ongoing management and connection monitoring
  • Technical support when connection problems arise

Which type of VPN to choose

What matters is who connects and how often. For permanently linked offices, site-to-site is the right choice: the tunnel is held continuously between routers, users are unaware of it, and printers and shared drives at the other location behave as if they were local. For employees working from home, remote access fits better – everyone signs in with their own credentials, and access can be revoked individually when someone leaves.

We keep SSL VPN for cases where the user cannot install a client, for example on someone else’s computer. It is the most convenient option, but it exposes only selected applications through the browser, not the whole network. In many companies a combination runs: site-to-site between offices and remote access for individuals.

What a VPN does not solve

It is worth saying what a VPN is not enough for. It encrypts the transfer, but it will not protect the company from an employee’s infected computer – that reaches the network straight through the tunnel. A VPN therefore belongs together with antivirus protection on endpoints and sensible network segmentation, so an ordinary user cannot reach servers they do not need for their work. It also does not replace backups and will not speed up a slow connection – throughput is always limited by the slower of the two ends.

For clients with flat-fee network management, routine VPN administration is part of the fee. Remote access to virtualized servers is usually handled through a VPN as well.
